Homeschool Highlights - week of November 7, 2010

We have a week of field trips!  So, since not much book work is getting done, we are working on wrapping up some projects, reading aloud, enjoying each other, and working on character traits. 


Monday:

Field Trip:  Attended Children's Theater Production of Huckleberry Finn.  This play was put on by the talented performers of ArtReach of Cincinnati, OH. 

Also, we observed a lady signing the whole show for a group of children.  It was fascinating watching her communicate with hand movements and body language.  It makes me want to further my ASL signing knowledge.

Phys Ed:  Got outside for an extended recess on this beautiful, Indian summer, fall day.

Bible:  While outside, we worked on memorizing the books of the old testament in song.  (music, Bible)

Tuesday: 

Bible:  God is my Refuge.  Psalm 46:1-5.

Devotions:  Standing in a Grace Place.  Romans 5:1-2.

Reading:  Secrets & Surprises:  Puff's Surprise, Beth's Secret, and Wash My Hair.

Read Aloud:  Junie B. Jones and her Big Fat Mouth.

Field trip.  Children's Theater Foundation's Junie B. Jones.  We both thoroughly enjoyed this show.  Our sides hurt from laughing the entire hour.  The play writers added highlights from each and every Junie B. book into this hour long show.  :) 

Wednesday:
Specials and Dance

Thursday: 

Reading:  Secrets & Surprises:  The Turkey Manners, Rags, The Little Red Hen

Read Aloud:  Junie B. Jones and Her Big Fat Mouth

Field Trip:  Math e magics show at the theater.  math + magic = a fun filled show. 

Friday: 

We had another field trip lined up for today, but it was cancelled at the last minute. 

Bible:  God Loves Fellowship.  Psalm 63:1-4

Reading:  Secrets & Surprises:  The Three Little Pigs, Fuzzy Wuzzy, Alexander Alligator, Bow-wow Says the Dog, Animal Alphabet, I love to Read.

Read Aloud:  Finished Junie B. Jones and her Big Fat Mouth

Language/phonics:  Lesson 63.  Test 11.  Not taking grade on spelling, did not work on enough.

Math:  Lesson 77.

Spelling:  Completed workbook parts 2-5.
