Homeschool Highlights - Week of January 16, 2011

Saturday:  (1/15)  I forgot to post this, but my daughter, Morgan was chosen to spend the weekend at Kent State for the All-Star Band.
We were able to attend Saturday evening for the final performance.  The sound was amazing after only practicing these songs for two days!
Sunday:
Bible:  No church services for us today.  We got home too late from Kent State last night.  And I know my girls and myself and our limitations.  If we don't take time to rest, we end up sick.

Instead we did our devotion (Matthew 3) and we made this snowflake craft.

We are also still working on memorizing and reciting badge 8 (Psalm 91) and the Books of the Bible Old Testament song.

Read aloud:  We watched Ramona and Beezus.  This was a great family movie!  Ramona leads a parallel life with Shayla.  Many of the shenanigans Ramona pulled in the movie, Shayla has done something similar, or I could easily see her doing the same things in those situations.

Shayla became interested in Ramona and Beezus, so I started reading Ramona Quimby, age 8 by Beverly Cleary.

Wednesday:

What a fun, action packed day!

GCS Specials
Ballet and tap dancing

We surprised Shayla with the whole family attending Disney on Ice!  We decided to go tonight after my friend, Annie said she was going.  We thought we should go if we were going because the forecast was not looking good for the rest of the week.

She took the news well!  She was very excited because Morgan was excited to attend.  Morgan says once you get to be a teenager, it's cool to go to things like Disney On Ice again.  LOL!

Morgan and Dale surprised me!  I left them in charge of purchasing tickets for the show.  They schemed together and bought floor seats!  We could literally feel the ice from the skates!

I could have freaked out since by nature I would have bought the cheaper seats in the nose-bleed section, but I didn't and because I didn't freak out, we all had a great time!

Whoops!  We were in the wrong seats here.  I said floor seats, these were front row.  Time to switch!

I couldn't believe the prices!  This cute crown and a bag of cotton candy was $10!  A snow cone was $15 a box of popcorn $7.50!

Near the end of the show, Prince Charming was looking for Cinderella.  He had the glass slipper and skated over to my girls and wanted to try the glass slipper on their feet.  It happened so fast we were shocked and didn't get a picture.
