H is for Hannah

Memory Verse: Happy are the people whose God is the Lord. Psalm 144:15

Foreign language: I am pleased to see Shayla is picking up more and more signs. She was able to learn this verse quickly because she already knew several signs. I think using signs really helps her to memorize things, too.

Bible story: I couldn't find a Bible storybook about the story of Hannah. Imagine that, I think that's a pretty important story. So, I read to her from my Bible.

Math: We talked about how Moses was 120 years old when he died (Deuteronomy 34:7). So we counted by 1's to 120.

Science: God gave us herbs for food. The book recommended growing some indoor herbs, but since we identify wild herbs and grow them in the summer, we skipped over this one. We did however, have fun smelling and trying to identify different herbs by smell.

Health/Science: We talked about all the body parts that begin with h. We talked about heart health. What kinds of foods to eat to keep the heart healthy and exercise. Of course, we had to get some exercise, too! We jumped on the trampoline and ran around for awhile outside.

H is for Helping. We named many ways that Shayla could help family and friends, even though she is a small child.

H is for Homelessness. We talked about how homelessness is a problem all year, but especially bad in the winter months. We talked about things we could do to help the homeless.

Music: We sang If You're Happy and You Know It, Head, shoulders, knees, and toes, and Ho-ho-ho hosanna.
